Our world is standing at crossroads and so, inevitably the socio-cultural hall-marks invites to prudence. Nevertheless the stream of concerts seems to be massively abundant and so we are presented with a vast amount of big and small/unknown festivals. It seems that once more the fans are faced with a though dilemma: to harvest all or to choose.
DonisArt wishes to announced to the friends of the Special Evenings and to others holding an interest in this, a new concept, by organizing the event EXPERIMENTAL FRIDAY. With this new different approach, DonisArt engages in advocating and promoting in the most honest and professional way possible, some bands whose determination and dedication is total. These acts, who have a word to say in their related musical sphere, wish to come closer to the fans by communicating straightforwardly with them. On top of all they wish to enjoy the Romanian experience. The audience will be witnessing the performance of some more or less known musicians and will watch official DVD concerts and/or full video recordings of the Special Evenings. The fans will also be able to purchase merchandise directly from the artists and enjoy the surprises in stored for them by the organization team. In other words, here we have another way of spending a night alongside musicians and friends, in a brand newly decorated location that offers moderate pricing at the bar.
The first edition of EXPERIMENTAL FRIDAY will develop around the Post-Rock&Shoegaze thematic. SIGUR ROS, SLOWDIVE, MY BLOODY VALENTINE, COCTEAU TWINS or MOGWAI are quite big names, but even more exciting are the lesser known bands who seem to be writing history all by themselves: GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR, NEUROSIS, CULT OF LUNA, EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, ISIS, MONO, RED SPAROWES, CASPIAN, PELICAN, RUSSIAN CIRCLES, BORIS or GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT. In the last ten years this particular music scene exploded. From America, New Zeeland or Japan all the way back to Europe, hundred of bands are trying to come up with their own ideas and put them into practice in more or less original ways. This experimental approach gathered under its protective roof influences coming from Post-Rock, Shoegaze, Ambient, Minimalist, Down Tempo, Psychedelic, Electronica, Progressive Rock, Post Metal, Stoner and the list could go on and on. We’re really talking here about a mix (forcefully associated but accepted as it is) of Indie and Alternative Rock with roots coming from the music of the 60s, that materialized itself into different forms during time, and became today an amazing musical current. What bands will be participating in EXPERIMENTAL FRIDAY?
KWOON are a Parisian sextet which came to be four years ago and already released 2 albums. The debut “Tales and Dreams” was launched in 2006 and has received praising from the press and Shoegaze Post-Rock fans. Almost six months ago, the band came up with a new material, a more mature and complex “When The Flowers Were Singing”. Because of the intelligent intertwining of the male and feminine vocals, cello, keyboards, samples, drums and guitars, KWOON’s sound is visibly as delicate and fragile as SIGUR ROSs, ANATHEMAs or MOGWAIs or as forceful and dynamic as EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKYs (to give an example).

CECILIA EYES began as a quartet in 2004 and a year later, they blasted off an interesting MCD entitled “Echoes From The Attic”. The sound of the band revolves around a romantic Post-Rock instrumental sound enriched with Ambient touches and elements of Ethereal and Down Tempo. Altough it seems that they extract their ideas from bands of the like, their final product breaks away from the crowd to create a personality of its own. In 2007 the musicians signed with the label dEPOT214 and after only a few months they came out with their new “Mountain Tops Are Something Closer To The Moon”, an album less popularized, but very well recieved by MONO fans in particular. In April 2010, in a formula of five, CECILIA EYES is launching the new material “Here Dead We Lie” a real jewl of the Post-Rock movement.
